How much is a Forum Software?

Just curious how much a forum software package costs?
We would like to open up a forum. We like the software this forums is using. Any idea on the cost?

We use Vbulletin, which was $180 for the license. If you want to change the design to match your site, it would cost a little for a designer to do so (cost us $200). Also, we wanted our forum to be SEO friendly, so we purchased a package called VBSEO, which makes it as SEO friendly as 3dcart is for ecommerce sites. The cost for that is $150. The one good thing is that there are free plug ins galore that you can use. You can view them at vbulletin.org.

Keep in mind, the vbulletin software is built on PHP, which means it cant be hosted by 3dCart. Vbulletin software is the same software 3dcart uses for this forum right now.

If you don't mind using a free alternative and testing it before making it live, you should try phpBB3. It's an open source, php based message board system.

You need to find yourself a php based hosting with MySQL through another host (you can find a basic hosting plan for less than $10 a month)
