Discontinuing Smartermail Service

Hey Guys,

We have noticed that there is still a percentage of merchants who have not moved their mail off of Smartermail yet.

We know that making a decision on where to move can be a big challenge to some, and we want to make sure that we do not leave you with no email tomorrow. Because of that, we are extending the deadline until June 30th 2022.

Please make sure to visit the resources provided to move your mail. June 30th will be the hard cutoff of smartermail support.

Attention Shift4Shop Merchants

We will be discontinuing the legacy Smartermail service (used for email hosting), on April 1st, 2022.

After careful consideration, we have determined that the SmarterMail service we provide is no longer able to keep up with the demands of an ecommerce business' email needs. Instead, we feel it is far better for online store owners to have their business emails handled separately, by a company that specializes in that type of service. For example, Office 365 or Gmail for Business.

While there is still time left until the cutoff, we strongly urge our current Smartermail users to begin the process of migrating their mail service to another provider as soon as possible. We've created this KB article to assist you in the setup process. We also recommend reviewing whatever documentation your chosen 3rd party email host has on hand to further assist you in the process.

Additionally, please note that this change will only affect you if the following two factors apply to your Shift4Shop account:

• A) Your store was created on Shift4Shop (formerly 3dcart) prior to December 31st, 2020
  -and-
• B) Your email is currently handled through Shift4Shop using Smartermail

Accounts that were created after January 1st, 2021 were not provisioned with Smartermail services. Therefore, this upcoming change will not impact you if your store was created within the last year.
