Mapping existing category pages

We are coming from another ecommerce hosting provider. We have our existing product page URLs mapped in 3DC, but I was wondering if there was a way to do this with category pages as well.

We use our category pages as main product pages and the related product pages as individual sizes of the main product. Ideally, we would prefer for the category pages to rank higher in the serps than the individual product pages themselves. Therefore, it would be beneficial for us to be able to have listings for our old category pages redirect to our new ones.

Does anyone have any idea how to do this?
