Almost ready to launch...

So I have my site almost ready to launch...yaaaaay! :D

However, I don't have any of the vital services in place yet, credit card processing, shipping integration, PCI compliance cert...I was trying to hold off on getting these integrated until I can test my cart functionality, but I don't know if it's a "chicken and the egg" matter...

Is there a method that you folks have used to test the operations of your cart BEFORE launch - such as creating test orders, ensuring the proper emails are being sent/received, quickbooks plugin adjusting the stock levels after purchasing new stock and after order fulfillment, etc.?

Of course, I'd rather not experience "technical difficulties" on live orders, ESPECIALLY not live phone orders. :eek:

Some of that will depend on what services you will be using. If you have created a custom payment option like "Phone in Credit Card" or "Mailing Check" then you can easily place test orders using those as payment methods. That will give you dummy orders to use for testing your shipping integration.

If your payment gateway is Paypal, when you set it up in the system it will walk you through the steps to test it, and it will create a transaction that charges you 25 cents to make sure that it is functioning properly.

If you are getting a dedicated SSL, then that can't be done until you go live.

How do I set up a "phone in credit card" or "mailing check"? I just checked the "online payment methods" and there is a drop down box for about 3 dozen different payment methods (when you click "add new") but none that describe "phone in credit card" or "mailing check." :confused:
