Is there a place for Private comments about customers?

I've got some notes I'd like to add to the customer's record, but I don't want it viewable by the customer if she logged into her account, these would be notes about the customer herself that we need to know in case the customer contacts us. Is there a place I can use on the customer's file (not the order file) where I can enter private comments?

I didn't think "comments" or the "additional fields" showed up in a customer record. I may be wrong, its been a while since I have peeked in that area.
