FREE items automatically added to order

Is there a way to add a free item to an order if the order reaches a certain dollar level?

ie, a free widget with the purchase of $25 worth of wodgets?

I have tinkered with the promotion section but cant seem to figure this one out.

I want it to be automatic, no code.

Marketing>Promotions Manager
Click on the First "Advance" button and set the Minimum order value in : Order Amount ($):
Click the second "Advance" button to reveal : Fixed Price Product
You can add a product here with $0.00 value. Note: this free product cannot have any options associated with it.

I would be careful using this. I believe if you do this, and then a customer tries to use a 'non-stackable' coupon for the other items in the cart, the system will just ignore the coupon request.

If you don't have coupons, no problem. If you do, I would just make sure you test it to ensure it works properly for you.
