Limit New Releases to 1 category

I want to use the New Releases function on the cart sidebar, but limit the products display to only 1 category of products, not randomly pull from the last 50 products across all categories.

I'm told by 3dCart Support that this can be done in the "newrelease.html" but I am not seeing how that can be accomplished.

The "smart category" function will not meet my needs.

Would appreciate any thoughts, ideas, code snippets to accomplish this. Thanks.
