We have been developing our 3dcart site for a while now in hopes to replace our current provider, Prostores. As suggested on this forum I set up a free Pingdom account to monitor uptime. I have a few questions if anyone using Pingdom can help.

1. Is the free account adequate to monitor uptime?
2. Do I need to set up the RUM?
3. I ran a report for the last 30 days and there were 30 outages for 1h 9m. Uptime 99.84%. Is this acceptable?

2. I don't know what RUM is. Probably not.
3. It is borderline unacceptable. I would say its too much, but watch for another month.

I was 99.7% last month myself. Two outages Pingdom reported through email so I was able to monitor.

Over the past 6 months, my uptime is 99.98% with a total downtime of 44min.

99.84% 1h 11m (20 outages)
Longest outage is 15 min, one 9 min, one 7 min, and the rest under 5 min, mostly 1 min.
Could be better, but not too bad.

Although my uptime was 99.89, I wasn't happy to see that on 11-18, we were down for 36 minutes, the longest 20 minutes.

One thing I'd like to add to this - set your Pingdom (or other monitor) to your store's IP address and not to your URL. This way you know for a fact that it's your STORE that's not responding as opposed to a problem with DNS services.
