Gift Certificates / Vouchers: Expiry Date?

Hi,

I've set up gift certificates now and was wondering if there was any way of having an expiry date? i.e. 6 months?

I've put that the code expires after 6 months on the cert. but I would actually like this to happen without me monitoring it.

Sorry I don't have an answer for your question but just wanted to note that gift cards in the US can't expire in less than 5 years (CC Act of 2009). Not sure what the laws are in the UK but thought I would mention it.

We don't have a law in the UK about expiry dates and its common to have one as long as it's made clear upon purchase...thanks for highlighting that though as it made me google it just in case!

I thought that was just California? That's the entire US?

There are different rules in each state.

MY understanding is that the states can have stricter rules but not less than the Fed.
