Postal code/zip code format validation in checkout?

Is it possible to get 3dCart to force the postal code to have a valid Canadian/US format, i.e. either "A1A 1A1" or "12345" in the checkout?

We export this information and in further processing it suffers from "garbage in-garbage out".

(I'll still have to worry about what to do with international addresses, but I want to at least start somewhere)
