Is it possible to have the user login with a username instead of an email address?

In one of my client's stores, they need to have users with one email address but multiple accounts (different saved billing and shipping addresses, billing info, order history, etc).

If they could log in as a username attached to each account instead of the email, that would alleviate the issue.

Or, if someone has a suggestion for another way around that, I'm all ears.

I can't think of a workaround for this. One email to one user is a pretty common requirement.
