Configuring a Bundle

Trying to figure out how to properly configure a bundle -- or perhaps there is a better way to do this: I have a certain line of food that has five flavors and I offer a "variety pack" that has one of each flavor that customers can choose at a savings. I need for the inventory for each of the flavors to be reduced by one when a customer orders the "variety pack."

So I set up a bundle and added the five flavors, listed as "title" in the options (rather than a dropdown, radio button, etc.) and it properly shows the five items in the variety pack, but when I order the item it doesn't change the inventory of the child items as being reduced (or "on hold"). Something I haven't configured properly?

If you set the option type to "Title" then it doesn't matter what else you do to the option... it is only a title. It's kind of a formatting cheat in the options box for when you need a line of text to break up or introduce options. Below the title (which I'm assuming is long and not something you'd want to put in a drop down menu, for example), put in another option to serve as the option that actually pulls the inventory.

I'm not quite sure what you're going for, though. Do you have one title or 5 titles? Does this bundle include all five items or is a a bundle that lets you select up to all five items?

To remove an item from inventory be sure to "Select" it in the "Option Set" under "Custom Item." You can select one item, multiple of one item, multiple items, or multiple of multiple items.

I'm looking to sell a "set" of five flavors of food for a lower price. So the customer can add the "set" to their cart and get the reduced price, and when they do it reduces the inventory of the five flavors. I do not want the customers to have a choice -- it is one of each flavor.

Here's the knowledgebase article on the subject. The only thing I would add is to make it a radio button and have it selected by default so the customer cannot change the pack. You can either have the bundle start as a $0 item and have each of the five flavors "value" be the discounted value of each. Or set the bundle to the price w/o discount and have the "value" of each item be a negative value (denoting the discount). I'm certain that a bundle cannot be made with TITLE options.

Birdsafe were you able to get this to work? I looked at your site and I didn't find any "variety" products.

I'm trying to do the same thing, create an item that is a "3-pack" which is one each of 3 existing single items (1 each of 3 flavors), not looking to give the customer any options of selecting which flavor but need to decrement inventory of 1ea of the 3 individual items.

I was able to successfully able to get it to work if I was to build a pulldown for each of the 3, having the customer select what they wanted, i.e. select bottle 1, bottle2, bottle3, and then it would dec inventory on each of what was selected, but that is not what I'm trying to do - I don't want there to be any choices, it's a set set of 3.

Not perfect, but found a workaround - created 3 options of type radio button, each one only has one choice (setting required and default on each) and then setting the rest up as described in the knowledge article for inventory control.

Did try setting the Hide checkbox, hoping the inventory would still decrement since just one radio choice on each but that didn't work.

I never did get it to work where inventory was correctly maintained.

Birdsafe did you "select" the item and the quantity using "Opt.?" That's how you get it to pull from inventory correctly.
