Prevent international shipping for some items

We have a situation where some of our vendors prevent us from shipping their products internationally. I can see how you can restrict shipping methods based on customer groups, but nothing about how to block an international customer from placing an order that contains these items.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prevent this?

Only thing I can think of is the Restrictive Shipping app. You could then go into the products and not allow the international shipping methods. Not perfect, but might help.

Hopefully someone else can chime in with another way.
