Is there a way to allow rewards points to be deducted from a customer order total?

No, can't be done under the current way the rewards system works. The only work-around I have seen is to allow customers to purchase gift certificates that they can use on an order.

Thanks birdsafe. I'll look into it. I'm amazed that the deduction from total feature doesn't exist. I use it on sites I'm registered with all the time.

I actually would not set it to reduce a customer's order if we had the option -- by having customers have to shop for products with points, I find that they purchase items with the points that they wouldn't otherwise purchase. If you allow them to use points to reduce the overall cart costs, you will have a lot of customers use them to reduce the cost of high-cost, low-margin items and it lowers your bottom line.

I finally figured out a way for my customers to use the rewards points. It was labor intensive setting it up. I appreciate the feedback Birdsafe.
