Is HTTPS worth it

Has anyone recently spent the time and money to change to https, and felt it was worth it?

Yes I know Google etc recommends it, but like it says, only 0.1% of sites have done it. So have any current 3D customers done it?

Pretty sure that https is required for PCI compliance.

Well my cart has been working with out https or pci for 8 years with no problem.

Yes Being HTTPS is well worth it for the search engine, securing your site. HTTPS prevents someone hacking the site and could take it over. It is well worth it for many, many reasons, and most importantly when your taking payment for your customers. Your cart may be working fine for 8 yrs, but your putting your company at risk. Just like you wouldn't want someone getting a hold to your SSN number and using it against you. Same thing here with the HTTPS. NOTE: if your customers sees that you dont have HTTPS, you could just loose a sale as well. A little investment goes along way.

I don't have any before or after yet since we converted in October 18 and winter is the slow season for us. But, the conversion was relatively painless, though it took 3d a few weeks.

I went ahead and did it(we opened our 3d store in 2006) because I had two customers in a month contact me over the phone saying they refused to check out on a non secure site. Of course, they were getting confused because only the view cart page was unsecure, but after that I decided to upgrade.

I swapped over and am glad I did. I think about how I feel when I go to place an order on a website that isn't secured when every other one I shop on is. I will shop somewhere else because I wonder if they can't be bothered with https, what else are they slacking off on? Add in the effects on search engines, the warning pop ups some of your customers will get from the various AV proggies etc. it really makes not sense to not upgrade. You don't have to go full on expensive EV green bar, but should consider one of the the less expensive certificates.

It's been fine for 8 years is the worst reason to not change. As much as we all hate change, the internet IS change. Don't ask me how I know. LOL

Definitely need to have a sitewide https. Its 2019... Security and privacy is becoming a primary concern for many people. A secure site will instill a little more trust into new customers. Plus browsers now display that "your connection to the site is not secure".

All you need is the $99 a year rapid SSL.

So a $99 rapid ssl, and a $400 ticket to make the changes. Also, I see some certificates don't work with www.or without; does the rapid work on every 3D page?

Yes on the $99 rapid ssl. No on the $400 ticket. Works fine on my site.
