Do we have to buy SSL's through 3dcart?

I have been buying my SSL from 3dcart. Then I found out that if I go directly to the brands website that I can get it for a good bit less. 3dcart is marking up the prices.

Is it hard to set up the SSL with 3dcart if bought direct?

3dcart does have to install the SSL because it is their server and they do charge for that service.

I did not know if it was something I could install myself or simply "point" it to my domain.

can't install it yourself ... there is no server access .. it's paid service, very fast and painless
