  • Setting up Google Analytics

    I had Google Analytics working fine with 3DCart - then a few weeks ago it just stopped working.

    I'm trying to get it going again and have it tracking visits but can't get the Ecommerce part to work.

    I'm using the NEW Google code, as outlined at this link:

    My question - does anyone have the code for the call to the Transaction and Item functions?

    I'm sure we have to use variable names for transaction id, Description etc - but I'm not sure how to do that.

    I think there was something posted here about 3DC having trouble with the new code and tracking checkout/ecommerce. You may want to do a search or open a ticket since I believe it is a known issue.

    You could try reverting to the old code to see if that helps.

      same problem with GA

      I am having the same issue... GA will track vists, but not conversions. I have not even got to try to input variables. I wonder if conversions don't work b/c the sale gets handed off to the secure from

      Anyone know.

      I would like to know if this related to 3Dcart... or something else.

        Take a look at this thread, it is the one I was thinking of regarding this topic. May help you get it up and running with conversion tracking.

          I couldn't get the new code to work with the ecommerce conversions. i just switched back to the old code and it works fine.

            Still need to use old Google Analytics code?

            I've just tried (again!) to set up the Google Analytics ecommerce code on our site. I actually hand coded it into the frame.html to make sure it was at the bottom of the page rather than futz around with the global footer and global left banner stuff.

            Anyway, my question is, does anyone know if we STILL need to use the old Google Analytics code for the ecommerce tracking to work? Just wondering if I need to switch the codes....

            So, anyone who is using Google Analytics with the eCommerce tracking SUCCESSFULLY - I would very much appreciate your comments!

            Thanks! Jennie

              Well, the eCommerce tracking code is gathering SOME data, but it seems to only be gathering the _addTrans data and not the _addItem data.

              eg. it shows me that sales have been made, the total amount, the shipping, and the Order #, but it does not show me what products were sold and their individual cost etc.

              This is the code I'm using (along with the NEW Tracking code ga.js - not sure if I should switch to the urchin.js). Anyone have any ideas??

              <script type="text/javascript">

              var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");

              document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));

              <script type="text/javascript">

              try {

              var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-my number is here-4");

              pageTracker._addTrans("[invoice-number]", "", "[ototal]", "", "[shipping]", "[ocity]", "[ostate]", "[ocountry]");

              pageTracker._addItem("[invoice-number]", "[id]", "[itemname]", "", "[unitprice]", "[numitems]");

              } catch(err) {}</script>
