I noticed some data in GMC that indicated 145 listings with short descriptions. That was an odd find for me. I create my own listings, so the data triggered a review of those listings. As I was correcting them, I discovered 3D had deleted my product descriptions, which led to the discovery of deleted meta tags. So I downloaded my entire site to determine if other listings were affected. There were 1,320 listings corrupted by 3D. Even some NEW listings I created had that missing data. I do almost all my listing changes through the backend, so this wasn't a spreadsheet import error. When I download, I do so mostly to review data and look for errors.
Yes, I do make site backups. The problem is that my backups are corrupted. The problem started right after the last major "upgrade" in December. At that point it had messed with my settings, deleted some of my Google feed data and deleted over 200 listings. I don't understand the "why" this is happening. What I am trying to do is give a shout out to everyone that creates custom listings to check your data. I would also like to know if anyone else is experiencing similar issues.
